New ‘Compact’ Label Finishing Machine from Eclipse – Accurate, Fast and Economical

The Eclipse Mini offers a competitively priced full production solution in a desktop package

The “Eclipse Mini” label finishing machine was officially launched at Labelexpo Europe in September.

Fantastic value for money, this competitively priced label finishing machine has a compact footprint. Designed to harmonise label production and increase the flexibility of label production from a range of ultra-narrow web label printers.

The machine, designed and manufactured by Impression Technology Europe (ITE), combines many features you would expect to find on larger and more expensive equipment, making it accessible and affordable to the market like never before.

The Mini digital die cutter and laminator is a production powerhouse in complete label converting and finishing. With self-wound lamination option; digital cutting with industry leading output rates (graphic dependant); roll to re-roll; slitting stations x 2 slitter blades; and waste matrix stripping as standard.

With the ability to cut plain, or printed media with the single point registration system. The Mini is a full production solution in a desktop package. Precision engineering is the benchmark of the Mini and its manufacture quality and unique firmware delivers far in excess of comparable machines in the market today. 200mm o/d rolls x 115mm web width makes the Mini a perfect solution for continuous finishing to a wide range of medias like BOPP, polyester, paper, vinyl’s and more.

Managing Director Roy Burton said: “Each and every year we are inventing and innovating in the digital finishing market and 2017 is no exception. There are various gaps in the market where clients need, but are unable to access, smaller machines for their business due to budget and return on investment. Therefore, our mission since 2011 has been to design finishing machines that fit what certain market segments require, not vice-versa. I’m really pleased to welcome this new ‘mini’ addition to complement our existing range of label cutters.”

The Eclipse Mini is designed, engineered and built to a specification the printing community needed, bringing affordable label finishing options to the micro label users of today.

Label Finishing Equipment and more at Label & Print

Impression Technology Europe attended the Label & Print show on the 1st and 2nd of March 2017, take a look at what we showcased there!

The biggest labelling show in the industry just got bigger!

Impression Technology Europe who manufacture the Eclipse range of label finishing equipment attended the Label & Print show on the 1st and 2nd of March 2017. This was a grand affair, with much to see and do. We showcased the very best of our product range to stand out from the crowd…And we did.

The Label & Print show saw the UK debut of the DC 220-ST label finishing equipment and what a debut it was! The machine ran seamlessly as we had it cutting and finishing continuously throughout the event. Visitors to the stand were particularly impressed with the speed of the machine coupled with the silent and smooth cutting mechanism which created a fluid production process. As we designed and manufactured the machines from scratch we felt tremendous pride due to the overwhelming positive feedback.

Click Here to see the DC 220-ST in action.

The Eclipse LF3 also was demonstrated alongside the larger finishing machine, offering the attendees a machine that is suitable for a slightly lower production whilst not compromising on the quality of the finish and the build of the machine.

Click Here to see the LF3 in action.

What label printer can offer the best label printing alongside the Eclipse finishing range? The Compress LP4 offers you a high production rate which combines with the Eclipse range for a fast and smooth production process. The Compress range drew a large crowd in with its impressive high-speed printing technology, offering up to 9.14 meters per minute. This combined with the 600 x 1200 dpi printing provides consistency, quality and fast efficient printing.  Read here how Talbot Chemicals brought their label printing in-house.

Click Here to see the Compress LP4 in action.

As we attempted to cover all the bases and introduce products to every level of label production we also brought the Epson ColorWorks range of in-house label printers. These machines are incredible quality for the size and much more cost effective for customers that currently outsource to other label companies. We found that people at the show were not only excited by the prospect of labels on demand but also impressed at how you can go from design to printed label in a matter of minutes.

ITE as a company try to stay ahead of consumer trends, always being early adopters whilst making sure to distribute the most reliable products on the market. One part of the signage industry that is becoming increasingly more important is flatbed UV printing. As this industry seemed like the next natural step we decided to invest into distributing the Compress iUV range. The Compress iUV-600s took the show by storm by demonstrating the sheer variety of substrates that it’s able to print on.  This could be from glass to plywood, the sheer variety of industries this machine is able to be of use in is vast.

Click Here to see the iUV 600s in action.

Overall, we had a fantastic show with each product range receiving tremendous praise. We are already looking forward to the next time we can demonstrate our complete range of label production and UV printing technology.

Talbot Chemicals Save Money & Take Control of their own Label Printing and Finishing

UK based Chemical Company lead the In-house Label Printing and Finishing Revolution!

The Client: Talbot Chemicals, UK based Chemical Company.

Products: Detergent, disinfectant, and cleaning chemicals for industry.

Typical Customers: Catering cleaning suppliers, general cleaning companies, wholesale /cash and carry, niche products such as aircraft glass cleaner.

Problems:

  • Large over-stock of product labels, Talbot had to adhere to minimum orders from their external label printing company.
  • Long lead-times on label orders.
  • High cost per label.
  • Ongoing chemical regulation CLP changes can result in a large stock of labels in warehouse to become redundant, increasing waste & cost.
  • Short runs could not be purchased cost effectively in order to satisfy customer demand / brand changes/ requests.

Solution:

Talbot Chemicals have moved their entire label production in-house and have implemented digital label printing and finishing. This includes receiving raw materials (paper), printing and cutting to size.

Key Benefits:

  • Cost per label reduction of nearly 40%.
  • Total control over labelling from design through to robustness of chemical label.
  • Ability to respond quickly to customer orders, no matter how small.
  • Reduced stock-holding offering large cost savings and less waste.
  • Ease of use of technology, total empowerment from printing through to maintenance.
  • Reliability in Impression Technology Europe as a supplier and genuine partner, from training through to scalability and future proofing.

Talbot Chemicals are an industry leader that manufactures chemical cleaning materials. Established in 1982 they have gained a reputation for quality and efficiency.

In the past they outsourced production of their labels, which generally tend to be large, robust labels that fit on to products such as 5 litre containers.

Stephen Greenwood, Production Manager, told us:

“Requirements vary and often we’ll get asked to produce 20 bottles of one kind, or full pallets of 20 of one kind of label and 20 another kind. We realised this was inefficient in terms of ordering minimum quantities of labels, and having to store these, not to mention waiting for delivery and having to pass that extra time on to the customer. At base level it was also proving expensive, and so we began to think outside of the box, and purchased a four colour ribbon printer 10 years ago. This was step one for us and gave us the confidence to take more control in-house.

However the ribbons were expensive, and after speaking with ITE we realised we could optimise even further.  We contacted ITE and they recommended the Rapid X1 printer which we used for four years. To add an extra layer they also suggested we actually cut our own labels to size as well, meaning we’d just order in one roll of material and then be able to cut every single label on one unit. The unit just bolts on to the digital printer.  So we also invested in an Eclipse LF3 label finishing machine.  It was a fairly bold move and significant investment, but one we definitely do not regret.

Eclipse LF3

Eclipse LF3 Label Finishing Machine

As technology progressed we then moved on to a Compress LP4 digital label printer. The new Compress LP4 toner printer reduced the cost of ink dramatically, half the price, in-fact. Cost wise we’ve shaved 40% off each label produced.”

Ease of use

“I think some companies might not be quite sure about how easy it is to manage your own printer and cutter. We have no issues whatsoever using the machines. I can’t fault the Eclipse LF3, it’s evolved since it was launched and ITE don’t stand still – they continue to innovate. We use an artwork package for the label design, and the labels print beautifully on the Compress LP4.”

Adapt, quickly!

“Convenience is a major factor for us, in addition to cost. On the back of that we have customer service; we can respond quickly now, even if it’s just for one label. We were cutting some labels out with scissors in the past!  Industry wise we’re all aware of the CLP regulations and how things are changing rapidly these days. Our solution means we can react straight away, whereas before would have needed to re-order and potentially dispose of redundant label stock. “

The ITE Experience

“ITE were very good from the start. From there on, every time I have spoken to them they are always at the end of the phone with true expertise, I cannot fault them – right through the machines.”

The upshot

In essence, Talbot Chemicals are now able to cope with any label challenge put in front of them, change with the market, offer enhanced customer service, and keep costs down.  They are truly leading the in-house label printing revolution.

What Digital Label Printing Can Bring to your Company

Are you currently using a flexographic Label printing method or buying labels from a printer that uses flexo?? Are you considering digital label printing but not sure if it can meet demand or cope with your needs? Wondering if this technology is worth the investment? Here at Eclipse we can understand your concern when investing in new technology so we have created a blog to put your mind at ease.

First of all we need to address the benefits and downsides of the flexographic printing which for some time has dominated the label printing market.  The main reason behind the continuous success of this method is the impressive output figures when producing a large quantity.  The ability to produce at a high speed is down to simplicity of the machines production process; templates are made prior to production, ink is applied then rolled onto the label.

The simplicity of the function has undoubtedly been a success in an industry where company’s labels historically are produced with the same designs for long periods of time.  However in DSC_0011
recent times there has been an increasing need for businesses to change designs more often due to customer demand. Even though the process of the label production is relatively simple and quick, the setup of the machines is much more time consuming due to creating the label plates and origination, plus loading the raw materials on to the machines. Alongside the setup requirements the machines are generally quite large and they will need a large workspace.  In contrast to this digital printer set up is almost instant with just a need for the consumables and software – this combined will be a size that would fit into most workspaces.

A trend in the label industry that is becoming increasingly popular is customised and more personal label designs. The best example of this would be the Coke ‘share with a friend campaign’ which was a major success and achieved a large amount of exposure on social media.

This campaign was able to be successful because of the capabilities of digital label printing. The hardware allows much more flexibility and this allows your company to produce various lines of labels for numerous customers or ranges simultaneously. This ability to produce ranges quickly without practically any set up could drastically reduce the print time and therefore can greatly
improve your production rate and customer retention.

What kinds of companies will benefit?

We understand that previously digital label printing had fit into somewhat of a niche with itEclipse LF350s production rates generally not being high enough. Traditional flexo printers preferred to stick to longer runs as they were more profitable, and end-users would prefer to outsource their labels as it is too much hassle. However in recent times this has changed as there has been a vast increase in production rates with up to 18 linear meters print per minute for both print and cutting which allows printing companies and end-users to manage longer runs as well as shorter more variable ones. For end-user clients, the technology will allow them to produce their own labels simply and quickly whilst using a minimal amount of workspace, and for label print
companies, adding digital printing and cutting enables you to tap into a reactive market and cope easily with short run requests that are now competitive compared to before.

In essence investing in a digital label printer is investing in the future and will increase the quality, the speed and the dynamism of your company, whether end user or printer.

Contact us on 44 (0)1623 861173 to talk about digital label printing and cutting. We offer helpful advice.

LF350 cutter labels

Eclipse LF350 digital label cutter – The Crispest Finish You Can Buy!

An outline of how the Eclipse LF350 digital label cutter can change the way your labels are finished and deliver the very best quality of product.

The Eclipse range of digital label cutters are revolutionary pieces of equipment which are lf350_digital_label_cutteralready taking the label printing industry by storm. Here at Eclipse we instil our company values into all of our products which is delivering consistent quality, reliability and durability.  The specification of LF350 digital label cutter is as impressive as the design, with a 5.1 meters per minute output, allowing for a 800mm wide label capability alongside a digital cutting capability of up to 350mm.

As a business that supplies quality products worldwide we will be displaying the cutting ability of the LF350 at Label Expo Americas in September. We are confident that the machine will sell itself as the demonstrations will display how much more efficient the LF350 is compared to our competitors.

The Eclipse LF350 is simple to handle as it was designed to be a compact machine with simple lf350_image_02loading and unloading in most label work environments. The easy to install compact design is followed up by software that puts the customer first as we have focussed on the control panel being as user friendly as possible.

Just in case our customers are novices to the Label market we do provide full training on the product; even before installation they are well acquainted with the easy to use systems.  The level of service we offer continues after purchase as we have a comprehensive support network in place for our customers with constant lines of communication to contact our sales and technical staff.

Why Should You Purchase Your Own Eclipse LF350 digital label cutter ?

You may be aware that during the label production, label printing is likely to be quicker than cutting and finishing .Knowing this, we were determined to create a lf350_image_03product that would reduce this time difference significantly. The LF350 will certainly do this with an increase of roughly 1.5meters per minute compared to a standard finisher; our customers understand that this can be the difference between profit, loss, success and failure.

If you are not sure on whether to upgrade to an Eclipse machine we suggest you take a look and see the difference yourself.  If you are available for the LabelExpo Americas we would be more than happy to talk you through our products and the benefits they will bring to your company. If you are unavailable for the shows then do not hesitate to contact us via our email address or phone number located below and we can arrange a demonstration or explain in more detail about the products that we offer.
